Applied Botany

madra

Native plants and their uses are discussed with examples of edible wild plants and possibilities for their cultivation.

Methods are described for the collection of wild plants with examples of plants that are easy to collect. The use of the plants for food and health is outlined and the nutritional value of the plants examined.

The environment and conservation of wild vegetation also requires some discussion. The main genera of imported crops will also be pondered as well as the relationship between humans and plants here in Iceland and abroad.

This course is useful for those who want to be able to make better use of and grow native and imported plants.
